Do athletics affect my application?
If a prospective student wants to try out for the varsity team and doesn't make the cut, does that affect the chances of admission to the college? Does it hold up the application process? Making the team would be great, but getting into the college is the most important thing.Often the Admissions Office doesn't know who the likely athletic candidates are, so I don't see your making the team or not having an effect on your admission decision. It's likely that the athletic decisions won't be made until after the admission ones anyway. So pursue your admission application, and give it your best shot! The NCAA can answer a lot of student athlete questions at www.ncaa.org.
